Description
Whispers in the Wild is an intricate watercolour. I use a technique that entails many layers and (over 50) hoursĀ of detailed negative painting to create an intriguing depth within.
Hidden in this forest scene (that is in our back garden) you will find a little tree snake, a green tree frog and the brilliant Satin Bower Bird. The tree fern which is the focal point is a large delicate fern that grows to tree size in wet gullies in our area.
While the colours reflect the natural bushland with greens, yellow and hinds of shadowy purples this painting would suit most rooms where you want to bring some calming nature indoors. Without the actual bugs, and snakes. š
The finished artwork measures 60 x 60 cms unframed.
Your artwork will be shipped rolled in a rigid mailing tube, carefully wrapped to ensure its safe arrival ready to frame to suit your room.
Painting ‘Whispers in the Wild’ taught me a number of things that can be transposed to life and I hope some of those ‘lessons’ go with her to live on:
- Patience, negative painting is a detailed process of painting between the elements, and can sometimes ‘do you head in!’
- Persistence and resilience, this was needed for me to push through the countless hours of details to completion.
- Passion, for nature, watercolour, and our native forest preservation.
- Control and Release, there are times to carefully control and time to let it go, knowing the right moment for both is freeing.
- Surprise, the joy of finding little surprises elements within gives a sense of adventure which my soul craves.
I hope you enjoy this original, one of a kind watercolour painting, I very much doubt I’ll have the courage to tackle another similar for a very long time, if ever!
