Wattle Time is a watercolour inspired by the profusion of bright yellow flowers on our trees. The bees love wattle time as much as I do! they are busy collecting nectar at a time of year when blossom is not so plentiful. If I had my way I would have many more wattle growing around our place. Enjoy the soft round leaves and bright yellow blooms.
My techniques for painting this one is both complex and simple. It began by dipping fresh wattle flowers in yellow paint, then I paint many layers building depth. the technique for the leaves is called negative painting, an advanced technique that add such character to this painting.
