The blue banded bee, native to Australia, is such an elusive little fellow and so pretty. They are a solitary little bee who live in burrows in the soft earth. Particularly difficult to spot, even when they can be heard buzzing, they are supper fast flyers. I get very excited when I hear, then finally see them in the vegetable garden that surrounds the art studio.
This loose watercolour in shades of blue captures the fleeting movement of Eucalypt leaves and the sweet Blue Band Bees.
