The Red Gum Blossom watercolour print captures the magic of sunlight dancing through the leaves of a red gum tree. I painted this piece in my garden studio on the Mid North Coast of NSW, inspired by the natural beauty of native trees in summer.
Importantly, this artwork was created using layered negative painting techniques, where I built successive washes of transparent watercolour while preserving highlights. Through this method, the red gum blossom seems to glow naturally. As a result, the surrounding leaves and branches gain depth, movement, and a sense of airy lightness. In this way, the piece brings both energy and serenity into your space.
