Red Gum Blossom
Australian Native Watercolour Print
Red Gum Blossom is a hand-painted watercolour print that captures the magic of sunlight dancing through the leaves of a red gum tree. Soft light filters across the foliage, highlighting a single vibrant blossom with a gentle bokeh effect. I painted this piece in my garden studio on the Mid North Coast of NSW, and I was inspired by the natural beauty of native trees in summer.
This artwork brings both energy and serenity into your home. It is perfect for anyone who loves native trees, flowers, or nature-inspired décor.
Red Gum Blossom painting process & technique
I created this piece using layered negative painting techniques, building washes of transparent watercolour while preserving highlights. Through this method, the red gum blossom seems to glow naturally. As a result, the surrounding leaves and branches gain depth, movement, and a sense of airy lightness. In this way, the print conveys both calm and vitality in a subtle, natural style.
