Bells Beach Blossom – Native Gum Tree
On the windswept headland of Bells Beach, just prior to the World Surf Competition, I found these stunning gum blossoms. Their branches shaped by the strong onshore wind forming cozy spaces beneath the canopy.
When I was a child we spend hours making secret hideouts under trees like these on the headland of my home town in NSW. The trees we imagined to be homes have now been cleared in the name of ‘progress’. Some of those imagined homes have since been cleared in the name of progress, making these blossoms all the more meaningful as they rekindled that childhood memory. But, these blossoms rekindled that lovely memory.
