I’m sure you’ve come across affirmations before today, but do they really work?

What are they and why use them?

Generally speaking, affirmations are used to reprogram the subconscious mind, to encourage us to believe certain things about ourselves or about the world and our place within it. They are also used to help us create the reality we want—often in terms of making (or attracting) wealth, love, beauty, and happiness.

Do affirmations really work? Can repeating something we don’t actually believe change our subconscious mind? Those that promote their use sure say they do.

Being a bit critical and not really wanting to repeat something that I knew to be totally untrue…like I am a millionaire or an olympic athlete etc, (when clearly not!) doesn’t feel right.

There was a time when I did have the opportunity to really put this affirmation practice to test. I was in a situation I didn’t like:

I had just finished my Naturopathic Degree (at last)

We had sold our banana farm after 13 years.

Bought the dream block of land to build our new family home on.

I was running a hardware store 7 days a week, 9-10 hours a day.

1 pre teen and 2 teenage children.

I wasn’t present for my kids. I was working in a business that didn’t excite me. My dream of opening my Naturopathic clinic seemed far off. Our dream home was still a dream unless our current home was sold.

Nothing seemed to be changing and it was getting frustrating.

I started with an affirmation that my dear friend and neighbour gifted me. And to say I started, it was an obsession!

I wrote it in fancy writing, and stuck it up everywhere where I worked.

I repeated it, every time that frustration, and defeat thoughts seeped in. Hence I must have repeated it a thousand times a day…Did I mention running a small hardware store was boring for me….

I was relentless!

Of course I still had the house and business listed for sale, I had signs in the shop etc. I was active in my pursuit to move to the dream block, build the dream home, and open the dream Naturopathic clinic.

The most interesting turn of events happened, after 6 months of actively trying to sell I started with this one affirmation. Not 3 not 5, just one and one only.

One month after using this affirmation:

The hardware shop sold to happy new owners

The house sold, and we moved onto our land and our newly constructed temporary accommodation while the dream house was constructed.

My time was freed up so I could pursue my dream of Naturopathy working 3 days a week. Which allowed me to be more present for my children.

At the end of the month, on the last day in my shop, I went to the shop next door to say farewell to the owner there. He lamented that he wished he could sell his business so he could move to another city to be with the love of his life.

I gifted him the affirmation. ( along with my obsessive instruction)

Within a month he sold his business, and the next month moved to live with his love.

Fast forward 15 years and my daughter hooked up with my shop neighbours son. One day my now son-in-law said: “dad gave me this great affirmation”, and gifted the affirmation back to me!

Today I would like to gift that affirmation to you.

Use this affirmation with care as it might just change your life..very quickly!

I fully and freely release all that is not divinely designed for me and the perfect plan for my life now comes to pass”.

Say this out loud when seeds of doubt slip in and be ready to transform.
